Ask us about the UV air purifier. Also called the UV germicidal light, this type of air purifier attacks bacteria, viruses, and mold spores that may develop inside the cool, damp environment of your ductwork. It eliminates these particles before they even have the chance to enter your indoor air.
We work with the leading brands of UV and standard air filters, including the REME® Halo, the iWaveR, and Honeywell. Contact us today to learn more about our Knoxville indoor air quality solutions!
Air Filtration Systems
Standard HVAC air filters have one purpose—to protect the HVAC systems themselves from dust, dirt, and other debris. That debris can get inside and coat the components, causing efficiency and comfort problems in your household. They are not intended to protect your indoor air quality from pollutants such as dust, smoke, VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), or mold spores.
The Fannon & Sons Heating Cooling Family provides high-end air filters and upgrades, providing far greater air quality than the standard setup. You may also want to consider a whole-home air filtration system with a high MERV rating. MERV stands for minimum efficiency reporting value, and MERV ratings range from 1 (low efficiency) to 16 (high efficiency). MERV 9-12 is sufficient for most residential settings in preventing particles from passing through your ducts into your indoor air.
Air Cleaners
There are a couple of different types of air cleaners for you to choose from: mechanical or electronic.
The mechanical air cleaner is comprised of a mesh material—typically fiberglass fibers—that traps particles passing through them. They do this by attracting the particles with the surface of the fibers, and then the particles become lodged there. You may be familiar with the term HEPA filter, with HEPA being high-energy particulate air. This is the most common type of mechanical air cleaner.
The other time, the electronic air cleaner, is actually not a filter at all. Instead, it creates an electric field that ionizes particles that pass through, drawing them to its surface where they can be cleaned off.
The Fannon & Sons Heating Cooling Family can help find the right air cleaner for you and your specific household needs.
